Most people don’t realise that once they have split from a partner or spouse,
their ex- can still have a damaging effect on your credit rating.

Thousands of people are be affected by this problem, dubbed the “ex-factor”
by credit reference agency CreditExpert.co.uk. But it’s latest research
showed that more than one in two consumer had no idea that this could affect
their finances.

Figure from the Office of National Statistics show that there are more than
250,000 orces in 2007 – the last year for which this data is available.
But many more people who live with a partner, buy a car with them or have a
joint bank account or credit card. If your other half get’s into debt
problems, this an affect you do, even if you are no longer together.
